Senator JV Ejercito, chair of the Senate committee on ethics and privileges, said Thursday that the panel will hold an executive session next Wednesday, March 4, to begin reviewing complaints filed with the committee.
The session will take place in the Senate President’s Conference Room at 10 a.m., after Senate President Vicente Sotto III authorized the venue due to unavailability of regular committee rooms.
Ejercito said the panel’s agenda includes adopting procedural rules and conducting the initial vetting of pending cases.
He emphasized that complaints will be heard in the order they were filed, following a first-in, first-out approach.
“Kung ano iyong unang nai-file, then we will hear that first,” Ejercito told reporters.
A new complaint was recently filed against Senator Ronald dela Rosa over his continued absence from the Senate.
Ejercito noted that the complaint against Dela Rosa is the sixth currently pending before the committee.
The panel aims to maintain a fair and orderly process in reviewing all complaints.
Lawmakers and staff are expected to attend the session to discuss procedural rules and initial case assessments.
The executive session will mark the formal start of the committee’s review of pending ethics complaints.
