Warm winds from the Pacific continued to influence weather conditions across the country on Thursday, bringing generally fair skies but high temperatures, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said these easterlies remained the dominant weather system affecting most areas.
The weather agency explained that the prevailing winds were behind the persistent hot and humid conditions being experienced nationwide.
In Luzon, weather conditions were mostly clear earlier in the day, although brief rain showers or thunderstorms were still possible later.
Pagasa said widespread rainfall was unlikely, but isolated downpours could still develop, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
Metro Manila and other parts of the country were expected to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with localized thunderstorms occurring in some areas.
In Mindanao, including Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms were forecast due to the same weather system.
Authorities warned that intense or prolonged rains could trigger flash floods or landslides, while no low pressure area or tropical cyclone was being monitored within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
