Hot and humid weather continued to affect much of the Philippines on Tuesday due to prevailing easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 5 a.m. forecast, Pagasa reported that warm winds from the Pacific Ocean remained dominant across most parts of the country, sparing only some areas in Mindanao.

The weather agency explained that these easterlies persisted and continued to bring high temperatures and humidity to a large portion of the archipelago.

Meanwhile, the same weather system also produced partly cloudy to cloudy skies, along with chances of isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and other areas.

Pagasa noted that brief downpours could occur despite generally fair weather conditions in many parts of the country.

However, several provinces in Mindanao were expected to experience less stable weather conditions throughout the day.

Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur, and Misamis Occidental were forecast to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau said it had not monitored any tropical cyclone or low pressure area within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of early Tuesday.
