The Senate ethics committee found one complaint to be sufficient in form and substance, its chair Senator JV Ejercito said on Tuesday.

Ejercito said the panel discussed the first docketed case during its initial hearing following the release of its rules.

He said the committee would provide a copy of the complaint to the respondent to allow a formal reply.

The senator did not disclose the identity of the respondent or details of the complaint.

He said the panel planned to reconvene once sessions resume on May 4 to formally take up the case and possibly reach a resolution.

Ejercito added that the committee would proceed to the next complaint after acting on the first case.

Out of the nine complaints under review, he said more than half were found lacking in required form and substance.

He explained that these submissions would be returned to the complainants, noting that several lacked necessary details and did not follow prescribed formats.
