Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III urged members of the House of Representatives to maintain focus and urgency as Congress resumes session this week, as lawmakers work through remaining priority measures.
Dy said the final weeks of the First Regular Session of the 20th Congress should test whether the House can sustain unity behind key legislative priorities of the administration.
He said the chamber had already moved 18 of 52 priority bills identified under the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council before the Holy Week break, describing it as early but insufficient progress.
Dy noted that while the House had managed to advance major measures despite a tight schedule, the remaining session days would require stronger coordination among committees, leadership, and members.
He said each priority measure represents a specific sectoral need, ranging from social services and education to infrastructure, food security, health, and governance reforms.
He said committee work should continue on pending measures while the plenary focuses on bills already ready for approval, with scheduling aligned to avoid delays.
Dy added that the House leadership would continue coordinating with committees and the Rules Committee to ensure that priority bills near passage are acted on promptly.
Dy emphasized that Congress would be judged not by time spent in session but by the laws it is able to pass, calling on members to use remaining session days effectively and sustain legislative momentum.
