House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Monday called on members of the House of Representatives to prioritize public service over “divisive politics” as he announced that the chamber would officially begin deliberations on a proposed anti-political dynasty law.
During the resumption of House sessions, Dy emphasized that lawmakers must be held accountable for tangible results rather than rhetoric.
He urged his colleagues to maximize every session, noting that political differences should remain secondary to the “higher purpose” of serving the country.
“Let’s focus our strength, time, and ability on raising the level of service to the people and in creating meaningful laws—laws that don’t just look good on paper, but are felt by each Filipino family,” Dy said in his address.
In a significant move toward systemic change, Dy confirmed that the House is prepared to tackle long-avoided political reforms, specifically highlighting the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill.
He framed the measure as a necessary step toward providing “equal opportunity for all” and rebuilding public trust in democratic institutions, stating that the chamber “will not back down from difficult issues.”
Dy, along with Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, authored House Bill 6771, also known as the Anti-Political Dynasty Act.
The House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reform is scheduled to begin its first hearing on the proposed legislation this Tuesday.
The Speaker concluded by stating that addressing entrenched political practices is an act of justice and a prerequisite for genuine reform.
