Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday dismissed reports of an impending impeachment complaint against her, saying it would follow the same pattern as past attempts.
Speaking from The Hague, Netherlands, she pointed out that lawmakers often use impeachment complaints as a means to raise support and funds.
Duterte noted that financial motives frequently overshadow the substantive issues behind such complaints.
She recalled that multiple impeachment complaints were filed against her in December 2024, showing the recurring nature of these efforts.
One complaint, linked to the alleged misuse of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education, received backing from over 200 House members in early 2025.
The House pursued impeachment proceedings, but the Senate dismissed the case in August 2025 after the Supreme Court declared the complaint unconstitutional.
Duterte emphasized that the expected complaint in February would likely mirror previous cases, driven more by politics and fundraising than genuine accountability.
