Thousands of residents are set to receive rice, cash assistance and other government services during a multi-agency caravan in Dumaguete City on Monday.
The city government said 31,900 residents have been identified to receive 10 kilos of rice each under the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang program funded through the Local Government Support Fund.
City Social Welfare and Development Office chief Lilibeth Filipinas said 1,776 beneficiaries from Barangays 1 to 7 would be included in the first distribution during the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” activity.
Residents from the city’s remaining barangays will receive their rice allocations in succeeding distribution schedules.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development will also provide Php 2,000 each to 1,500 beneficiaries under its Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport Assistance Program.
More than 4,000 people from Negros Oriental are expected to avail themselves of services at the caravan, which will be held at the Dumaguete City Hall forecourt.
Other activities will include a job fair, Kadiwa ng Pangulo, TUPAD payouts, assistance for overseas Filipino workers and the awarding of certificates of lot allocation.
At least 18 government agencies are expected to participate, including the departments of Labor and Employment, Agriculture, Social Welfare and Development, Health, Education and Justice, along with TESDA, the PSA, PNP, NBI and LTO.
