DTI assures steady supply of basic goods amid geopolitical tensions

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured the public on Thursday of a steady supply of basic goods, emphasizing its active collaboration with manufacturers to maintain reasonable prices.

In a statement, the DTI announced that it has intensified nationwide price monitoring to ensure that the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities remain stable, particularly in light of international geopolitical tensions. This initiative aims to mitigate potential increases in fuel prices due to the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.

“We understand that even slight increases in the prices of basic goods can be felt deeply by ordinary Filipino families. This is why, in line with President Marcos Jr.’s directive, we are stepping up our nationwide monitoring efforts and working closely with industry players to prevent any unjustified price hikes,” said Trade Secretary Cristina Roque.

The DTI’s efforts include collaboration with local government units and other agencies to implement price stabilization measures, ensuring that essential products remain accessible and affordable for consumers.

The latest suggested retail price bulletin is available on the DTI website for public reference.

Consumers are encouraged to report any retailers, distributors, or manufacturers selling above the suggested retail price through the One-DTI (1-384) Hotline or via email at ConsumerCare@dti.gov.ph or ReporttoSec@dti.gov.ph.
