DAVAO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry in the Davao Region (DTI-11) reported regional domestic sales of PHP 1.06 billion from January to November of this year, a senior official said Thursday.
In a press briefing, DTI-11 Regional Director Romeo Castañaga said the total sales included market matching and facilitation, One Town One Product (OTOP) hub sales, trade fair sales, and firm-level monitoring among assisted micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Castañaga noted that under the MSME development program, the 53 Negosyo Centers across the region assisted 40,041 clients.
“About 86 percent or 25,648 of the assisted MSMEs are classified as growing enterprises,” Castañaga said.
The Negosyo Centers also facilitated 604 training sessions, covering entrepreneurship, productivity, and skills development, benefiting 18,338 clients.
A total of 748 loan applications were facilitated, amounting to PHP 316.74 million. Of these, 37.03 percent (277 loans) ranged from PHP 100,001 to PHP 500,000.
Additionally, the region recorded 41,675 Business Name Registrations (BNR), with 37,034 new applications and 4,641 renewals.
“Around 87 percent of these applications were processed through the online BNR system,” Castañaga said.
In terms of product development and branding, 409 prototypes were developed under the OTOP Next Generation Program.
“Under the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) program, 4,142 MSMEs were assisted, generating 2,620 jobs,” Castañaga added.
Since its launch in 2013, 218 SSF projects have been established, including 65 operational projects, one non-operational, 144 transferred to cooperators, and eight unserviceable. (PNA)
