LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5), through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), has distributed financial support to 170 micro-entrepreneur beneficiaries in Camarines Norte province.
In an interview on Wednesday, DSWD-5 Regional Director Norman Laurio said the seed capital is intended to help the recipients establish and expand their micro-businesses.
“The beneficiaries, representing 10 municipalities, each received a one-time livelihood grant ranging from P10,000 to P15,000 during a payout in Daet, Camarines Norte, in December 2024. We already have another payout scheduled for this month (January),” he said.
Laurio said the funds will support various businesses, including community stores, hog-raising, fish vending, tailoring, welding shops, and vulcanizing shops.
“The seed capital is intended to help start a micro-business or expand existing small businesses. It is designed for individuals and associations that show potential and a strong desire to pursue entrepreneurship,” he added.
Laurio said that through the SLP, DSWD-5 continues to empower poor, vulnerable, and marginalized Bicolanos by providing them with the skills and resources necessary to create sustainable livelihoods contributing to their socio-economic development. (PNA)
