The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI distributed approximately 1,000 relief kits to families affected by a fire in Barangay Leon Garcia, Davao City, on October 15.

The distribution, conducted on October 17, provided additional assistance to residents who lost essential household belongings during the incident.

According to the DSWD, the relief supplies included kitchen kits, sleeping kits, and clothing kits to help affected families meet their daily needs as they recover from the fire.

Residents expressed gratitude for the immediate assistance, saying the supplies would help ease their difficulties as they work to rebuild their lives.

The agency said the additional relief items were intended to replace some of the essential household materials lost in the fire and support families in resuming their daily activities.

DSWD Field Office XI continues to coordinate with the local government and other concerned agencies to assess the situation and ensure that the needs of affected residents are addressed.

The relief operation forms part of the agency’s continuing disaster response efforts under DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide timely assistance to families affected by emergencies and disasters.
