Green GSM, Southeast Asia’s first fully electric ride-hailing platform, has been honored with the Green Leadership Award at the 2025 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) in Bangkok. Developed by Vietnam’s Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), the platform is turning heads across the region with its bold mission to transform how people move — cleanly, efficiently, and sustainably.
AREA, organized by Enterprise Asia since 2011, is one of the most respected accolades for corporate sustainability and innovation in the region. This year’s theme, “A Necessary Shift to a Regenerative Economy,” underscores the rising pressure for companies to not only reduce harm but actively restore and uplift ecosystems and communities.
Green GSM earned its spot among Asia’s sustainability trailblazers by showcasing an ambitious yet inclusive roadmap for greening urban transport. At its core is a three-pronged ecosystem: a dedicated fleet of electric vehicles, a tech-powered ride-hailing platform known as the Xanh SM Platform, and strategic partnerships with legacy taxi operators transitioning to EVs. This approach doesn’t just push the EV agenda — it pulls everyone into it, from individual VinFast EV owners to traditional cab firms. While the tech platform and operator partnerships are already active in several international markets, the rollout in the Philippines is still on the horizon.

“Sustainability at Green GSM is not just a vision — it’s how we live, lead, and grow,” said Ms. Phan Thi Hong Dung, Director of Training and Culture Development at GSM. “Every ride isn’t just a trip — it’s a step toward a cleaner society, a more responsible business landscape, and a lifestyle that puts the planet and people first. This award is a powerful affirmation of our commitment to growing green and growing globally.”
The award marks a major milestone in the company’s “Go Green Global” campaign — a push to export Vietnam’s green mobility model across Asia and beyond. And the results so far speak volumes.
In just two years, Green GSM has expanded from Vietnam into Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It has logged over 300 million trips and driven 1.7 billion zero-emission kilometers. That’s an estimated 211,000 tons of CO₂ emissions avoided — equivalent to what 3,200 hectares of forest could absorb in a year.
At home, Green GSM commands nearly 40% of Vietnam’s electric taxi market. It has teamed up with close to 100 transport companies — including big names like G7 Taxi, Mai Linh, Lado Taxi, and En Vang — to help convert their fleets to electric. Nineteen of these operators have now gone fully electric, proving that what was once considered a future ambition is quickly becoming today’s standard.
With a presence in four countries, Green GSM has become the second-largest ride-hailing brand in Southeast Asia — and the only one running entirely on electric vehicles. Its ability to adapt to different markets and user behaviors speaks to the strength of its business model and the growing appetite for cleaner urban transportation in the region.
After officially launching in Metro Manila on June 10, 2025, Green GSM is poised to become a key player in the Philippines’ mobility landscape. As the brand continues to grow, one thing is clear: the future of ride-hailing in Asia doesn’t just look electric — it already is.
