MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has resumed the second phase of the rehabilitation of the southbound portion of EDSA starting from Monumento, Kalookan City to Balintawak, Quezon City.
In a social media post, the DPWH – National Capital Region (NCR) said the road re-blocking began Friday evening and is set to be completed early Monday.
Works will be conducted on a 24/7 basis along some sections of EDSA, including Balintawak to Roosevelt near Zinnia Road; Kaingin Road to the North Avenue Bus Station; and the Monumento Bus Station to A. De Jesus Road.
The works to be conducted include breaking and hauling operations on Oct. 16; base preparation, installation of rebars, and concrete pouring operations on Oct. 17; and cutting, sealant application, curing, and housekeeping activities on Oct. 18.
“Although there will be lane closures in the affected areas, other lanes will remain passable to motorists,” the DPWH said.
“The public is advised to exercise caution, follow traffic advisories, and use alternative routes for a safer and smoother journey.”
The affected road sections will reopen to traffic at 5 a.m. on Oct. 19.
The works are part of the ongoing government program to improve the condition of Metro Manila’s main artery.
