The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – South Manila District Engineering Office has commenced a three-weekend asphalt overlaying project on sections of Maria Orosa Street in Malate, Manila.
In a social media update late Friday, the DPWH announced that the roadwork began on March 7 and will continue every weekend until March 30, 2025. The project covers both the northbound and southbound lanes of the street.
Motorists are advised to anticipate potential traffic slowdowns in the affected areas and consider alternative routes.
“The repairs will be conducted one lane at a time, necessitating partial closures,” the DPWH stated.
Following the initial phase from March 7 to March 9, subsequent asphalt overlaying activities are scheduled for March 14 to 16, March 21 to 23, and March 28 to 30, all taking place over the weekends to minimize disruptions to traffic flow.
Once each phase is completed, the newly overlaid sections will be reopened to motorists the following day.
This initiative is part of the DPWH – National Capital Region’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and improve traffic efficiency, not only in Malate but across Metro Manila’s road network.
