DPWH accelerates repair of Davao Oriental infrastructure

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the immediate fast-tracking of repair works on public and critical infrastructure in Davao Oriental damaged by the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the province in October.

In a statement, Dizon emphasized the importance of completing the facilities quickly to ensure the continuous delivery of local government services, especially in responding to calamities and emergencies.

“The President (Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.) said we should speed up the repair and we need to strengthen them,” Dizon said during his inspection of facilities and infrastructure in the province.

Dizon visited the ongoing restoration works at Evaristo Moralizon National Vocational High School, Manay Municipal Hall, and the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital in Cateel.

He assured local officials of Manay and Cateel that DPWH personnel are expediting the repairs of these critical public facilities to make them usable as soon as possible.

President Marcos earlier directed the prompt repair of essential infrastructure — including public schools, hospitals, and municipal buildings — affected by the powerful October 10 earthquake.
