Minimum wage earners in Metro Manila will receive an Php 85 daily pay increase, the Department of Labor and Employment announced Tuesday.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said about 1.1 million daily wage earners in the capital region are expected to benefit from the adjustment.
Tolentino made the announcement during an event at the Malabon Central Market, where he described the increase as the largest wage hike ever approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in the National Capital Region.
The adjustment will raise the daily minimum wage in Metro Manila from Php 695 to Php 780.
For workers in agriculture, service and retail establishments with 15 or fewer employees, and manufacturing establishments with fewer than 10 workers, the daily rate will increase from Php 658 to Php 743.
The wage increase will be implemented in two tranches, with Php 60 to take effect on July 19, 2026, and another Php 25 in January 2027.
DOLE earlier announced higher minimum wages for workers in Northern Mindanao and Caraga, with daily rates ranging from Php 475 to Php 500.
In Region 10, the daily minimum wage rose to Php 500 from Php 485 beginning May 1 after the second tranche of the wage adjustment took effect. In Caraga, the daily minimum wage increased to Php 475 after an earlier Php 20 hike raised the rate to Php 455 in January.
