DOJ reschedules flood project hearing due to Typhoon

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has moved the first hearing for the preliminary investigation on five flood control projects to Friday, November 14, due to Super Typhoon Uwan.

The initial hearing, originally scheduled for Monday, was set to include former Department of Public Works and Highways engineers Henry Alcantara, Brice Hernandez, Arjay Domasig, Jaypee Mendoza, contractor Sally Santos, and others.

“In view of the suspension of work in government offices due to Super Typhoon, the initial hearing for preliminary investigation originally scheduled on November 10, 2025 for the 5 cases related to flood control projects in Bulacan shall be moved to November 14, 2025 (Friday), at which time respondents will receive copies of the complaints,” DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said.

Uwan, which struck the eastern Philippines on Sunday evening, followed closely after Typhoon Tino devastated the central Philippines, claiming at least 224 lives. The hearings come amid public outrage over alleged ghost flood-control projects that reportedly cost taxpayers billions of pesos.
