DILG seeks HDO vs Tab Baldwin

The Department of the Interior and Local Government said it would recommend the issuance of a hold departure order against resigned Ateneo men’s basketball head coach Tab Baldwin.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla made the statement Friday during a press briefing in Quezon City.

Remulla said the DILG would push for the HDO following developments in the investigation into the deaths of Ateneo student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

The two players died during a team activity in Dipaculao, Aurora, earlier this month.

Remulla earlier said the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group had recommended charges against Baldwin and 10 others.

The recommended complaint involved alleged violations of Republic Act No. 11053, or the Anti-Hazing Act.

The case stemmed from the training activity held along the shoreline of Dipaculao, where the two Ateneo basketball players died.

Authorities have yet to announce whether prosecutors would adopt the CIDG recommendation and formally file the charges in court.
