The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has instructed local government units to take urgent measures to facilitate the smooth transport of fuel within their jurisdictions amid the ongoing oil supply concerns.

The agency called on LGUs to allow the unhampered movement of fuel deliveries, emphasizing the need to avoid disruptions that could affect economic activity.

It also urged local officials to lift truck bans and traffic coding restrictions for legitimate fuel tankers to ensure timely distribution.

The DILG said maintaining a steady flow of fuel is essential to support businesses and protect the public as the country deals with global energy challenges.

It added that local governments play a key role in making sure critical supplies reach their destinations without delay and called for their full cooperation.

The directive was issued in line with the declaration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. placing the country under a state of emergency over oil supply.

The department said local chief executives have been directed to use their authority to oversee and enforce the implementation of these measures.

It stressed that coordinated action between national and local governments remains crucial in preventing supply bottlenecks and ensuring energy stability.
