The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) instructed Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando to turn over firearms registered under his name and those of his security team, as well as vehicles linked to a road rage incident on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).

Officials said the weapons and vehicles were returned, but the Land Transportation Office (LTO) continued investigating Fernando for alleged misuse of the expressway.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla reportedly contacted Fernando after receiving reports that the governor’s convoy had blocked a vehicle on the NLEX on Saturday night.

Remulla emphasized that the identity of the driver involved did not change the nature of the violation and described Fernando’s alleged driving behavior as habitual, occupying multiple lanes without allowing others to overtake.

The secretary said the alleged actions exceeded normal conduct on the expressway and should be addressed regardless of who was affected.

Malacañang earlier denied that the vehicle involved belonged to a presidential family member, and Remulla did not confirm whether a presidential son was present.

Remulla added that he received other reports of Fernando’s alleged misuse of the expressway and stressed that such behavior must stop.
