DILG launches infrastructure governance blueprint summit to boost local development

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has launched the Infrastructure Governance Blueprint Summit to strengthen collaboration between national and local governments in planning, delivering, and sustaining infrastructure projects.

DILG Undersecretary for Operations Omar Alexander Romero said the initiative highlights the need for cross-sector partnerships to improve local governance and community development.

“The Infrastructure Governance Blueprints set the new foundation for the standards in local governance that are participatory, innovative, and people-centered. It is through these partnerships that we create better systems, better lives for our people,” Romero said during his speech at the summit in Quezon City, organized by the DILG Office of Project Development Services (OPDS).

The summit featured several blueprints, including Third-Party Monitoring for local infrastructure projects, Local Roads and Bridges Inventory, Empowering Local Engineering Expertise with CPD Accreditation, WaSH Results-Based Monitoring Framework, Resource Compass, Subaybayani Awards, and Infrastructure Audits.

DILG-OPDS Director Alfonso Maralli Jr. emphasized that these blueprints will help identify infrastructure gaps in potable water supply, road networks, and disaster-resilient facilities, ensuring that “no community is left behind.”

The initiative is supported by organizations such as the World Bank, UNICEF, the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, and national agencies including the DENR, Office of Civil Defense, and other development partners.

DILG regional offices also signed the United by One Blueprint pledge, committing to ensure sustainable development by providing communities with reliable roads, water systems, public facilities, and public spaces.
