DICT-13 holds first robotics challenge in Caraga Region

Ten schools from the Caraga Region participated in the TECHQUEST: Robotics Challenge for Academia, a two-day event organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-13) from Monday to Tuesday.

A total of 30 junior and senior high school students, grouped into 10 teams, competed in the region’s first-ever DICT-hosted robotics challenge.

“Each team is composed of two students and one coach,” said Albert Gabriel, focal person of the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau of DICT-13.

Gabriel said the event aims to introduce innovations and technology to students while enhancing their technical capabilities.

“It will also cultivate the skills of our students for their future career, especially in science and technology,” he added.

The competition tested participants’ creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in the design, building, and programming of robots.

DICT-13 said it plans to hold more robotics challenges in the future to continue developing the skills of young learners in the region.
