Choco Mucho star setter Deanna Wong is set to be recognized as the Fan Favorite at the first-ever Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night, happening on May 28 at Novotel Manila Araneta City.
Wong earned the distinction after garnering an overwhelming 24,000 votes in an online poll conducted through the PVL Press Corps’ official Facebook page. She outpaced Creamline’s Jema Galanza (12,000 votes), Alyssa Valdez (10,000), and Bea De Leon (6,400) to secure the top spot.
The recognition reflects Wong’s immense popularity, bolstered by her massive social media following—866,000 on Facebook, 1.4 million on Instagram, and 2.4 million on TikTok.
In addition to individual honors, the thrilling Game 2 showdown between PLDT and Choco Mucho during the PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals has been named the Pilipinas Live Game of the Year. The Flying Titans edged out PLDT in a nail-biting five-set match (25-15, 12-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13) on March 20 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City to secure a spot in the semifinals.
Chery Tiggo will also be acknowledged with the Fair Play Award, having accumulated the most green cards—six in total—across the Reinforced and All-Filipino Conferences. The team narrowly beat Akari for the honor. The green card system rewards sportsmanship by eliminating delays or video challenges when a player or team admits a fault to the referee.
The awards night will feature one more fan-driven honor: Star of the Night. Fans can vote by reacting to photos and posts on the PVL Press Corps’ Facebook page: PVL Press Corps Facebook.
