The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is bracing for a major influx of travelers during “Undas,” with daily passenger numbers expected to range between 50,000 and 80,000.
DCOTT manager Aisa Usop said around 1,000 to 1,500 bus trips are anticipated daily on November 1 and 2 for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
“It’s also the ‘ber’ months, so we anticipate even more travelers,” Usop told the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday.
To accommodate the surge, DCOTT has coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for the issuance of special permits for additional routes. “In previous years, we’ve faced a shortage of buses so we’re working closely with LTFRB to secure special permits, especially for high-demand routes,” Usop said. “We’ve also requested for a help desk inside the terminal during Undas to expedite permit issuance.”
For safety and security, DCOTT has partnered with Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office. The terminal is equipped with 32 CCTV cameras, walk-through scanners, and baggage X-ray machines to ensure close monitoring.
Usop reminded bus operators and drivers to observe the “no pickup policy” along highways and urged passengers to follow terminal guidelines for a safe and organized travel experience.
Operating 24/7, DCOTT currently serves 21 bus companies covering both northbound and southbound routes.
