The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of 1,224 new positions at the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila – Philippine General Hospital (PGH) to strengthen its medical and support workforce.
In a statement released Thursday, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the move will help PGH maintain its role as a leading government medical institution.
“This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to provide better and reliable service to all Filipinos in need,” she said.
PGH, a Level III general hospital with a 1,334-bed capacity, serves as the country’s premier public healthcare facility.
According to the DBM, the new positions will be rolled out in four phases—beginning in the first quarter and fourth quarter of 2025, with the remaining tranches scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
