The estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure caused by tropical cyclones Crising (international name Wipha), Dante (Francisco), and Emong (Co-May), along with the enhanced southwest monsoon, has reached PHP 12.84 billion, according to the latest official government tally.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) released a situation report on Friday, indicating that the damage to agriculture amounts to PHP 2.25 billion, while infrastructure damage is estimated at PHP 10.59 billion.
The NDRRMC reported that 77,798 farmers and fisherfolk have been affected by these weather disturbances. Additionally, the total number of houses damaged has reached 48,843, with 6,707 homes reported as destroyed.
The council also noted that the number of affected families has climbed to 2,272,696, comprising 8,263,199 individuals residing in 8,503 barangays across 17 regions nationwide.
As of the latest update, 27,516 families are currently taking shelter in 950 evacuation centers, while 31,062 families have sought refuge with relatives or friends. The number of reported deaths remains at 37, with only two confirmed fatalities at this time.
