The Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) commissioned a ₱67.678-million Rice Processing System II in Barangay Sinabuagan, Valencia City, Bukidnon, on November 5, as part of its efforts to strengthen rice mechanization and improve postharvest operations in Northern Mindanao.

The facility, implemented for the Provincial Government of Bukidnon under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program, features a multi-stage rice mill capable of processing two to three tons of palay per hour and four recirculating dryers, each with a six-ton capacity per batch.

The project is expected to benefit approximately 23,975 rice farmers cultivating around 40,505 hectares across the province by providing access to modern rice processing technologies and improving the efficiency of postharvest activities.

According to DA-10, the facility is projected to reduce postharvest losses by three to five percent, lower production costs by ₱2 to ₱3 per kilogram, improve the quality of milled rice, and provide farmers with better income opportunities.

The program is part of the government’s continuing efforts to modernize the agriculture sector, strengthen local rice production, and improve the competitiveness of Filipino rice farmers through improved machinery and postharvest facilities.
