Amid increasingly unpredictable climate conditions, communities in Mountain Province are finding renewed strength in the soil they have long cared for. Through Project LAWA at BINHI, led by the DSWD Cordillera Region, more than 1,250 partner-beneficiaries whose primary livelihood is farming are proving that the land remains productive, resilient, and full of promise.
By blending program-supported training with generations of indigenous farming knowledge—an intimate understanding of the land, the wind, and the rain—communities have successfully established 24 LAWA sites and 42 BINHI sites across the province. These efforts have already generated close to ₱50,000 in combined income from fish harvests, vegetables, and other crops that sustain local households.
Beyond yields and earnings, Project LAWA at BINHI has strengthened community bonds and collective responsibility. The initiative has fostered cooperation, mutual support, and a deeper appreciation for environmental stewardship as the foundation of life and livelihood.
In the mist-covered highlands, the message is clear: the land thrives because people continue to care for it. With more than 1,250 beneficiaries standing together, livelihoods are taking root again—even on steep mountain slopes. Market linkages through the KADIWA Market and capacity-building activities in partnership with the Provincial Agriculture Office have reinforced the spirit of shared labor and respect for nature.
Project LAWA at BINHI is more than an agricultural intervention. It is a commitment to nurture the land and plant seeds of hope—ensuring that today’s care becomes tomorrow’s opportunity for the next generation.
