The Commission on Elections (Comelec) removed 113,776 names from the voters list in Negros Occidental as of Tuesday.

Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said the majority of those purged, 109,864, had failed to vote in two consecutive elections.

Other removals included 31 voters by court order, 3,239 due to death, 639 who transferred their registration to another area, and three for double registration.

Around 20,495 of the delisted voters came from Bacolod City, Ananoria added.

After the purge and the inclusion of new registrants, Negros Occidental had a total of 1,961,404 registered voters as of January 27.

The number of voters was expected to reach roughly two million as registration continued ahead of the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Ananoria noted that those whose registration had been deactivated could still reactivate their status during the ongoing voter registration period.
