Cignal defeated defending champion Creamline in a dramatic five-set match, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-11, in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference at Ynares Center on Tuesday.
The Super Spikers, led by import Katrin Trebichavska, rallied after falling behind in Set 3, narrowing a 21-11 deficit to 24-22, giving them the momentum to take Set 4 and force a decider.
In the fifth set, Cignal controlled the scoreboard, building an early 9-4 lead with Trebichavska’s attacks and service aces. Creamline briefly closed the gap to 11-9, but crucial errors from Rose Vargas and timely hits from Trebichavska and Jackie Acuna secured the win.
Trebichavska finished with 20 points, Vanie Gandler added 15, Rose Doria-Aquino and Jackie Acuna contributed 12 and 10, while Cayuna orchestrated 28 excellent sets and Catindig led with 28 digs.
Creamline’s Coco Schwan scored 25 points, but her teammates could not reach double digits, with Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos adding nine each.
With the victory, Cignal moves to fifth in the standings at 5-3 (13 points), just behind Creamline, who is also 5-3 but with 17 points.
