For Filipinos entering the formal financial system, building a credit profile can be an important step toward greater financial opportunity. Helping make that possible is central to CIBI Information Inc.’s work—a mission recognized at the ACES Awards 2026, where it was named among Asia’s Most Influential Companies.
The recognition marks a milestone in CIBI’s evolution from the Philippines’ first credit bureau into a broader data and intelligence partner, supporting informed decisions across lending, employment, identity verification, and fraud prevention.
For more than four decades, CIBI has adapted to the changing needs of financial institutions, businesses, and consumers. As financial services become increasingly digital and interconnected, assessing creditworthiness also requires a clearer understanding of identity, fraud, and business legitimacy.
“The challenge today is no longer gaining access to information. Institutions need to understand what the data is telling them and how they can use this to respond to risks,” said Pia Arellano, President and CEO of CIBI. “For us, trusted data becomes even more valuable when it’s used to help institutions act with greater confidence and create better outcomes for the people we all serve.”
As an accredited Special Assessing Entity (SAE) of the Credit Information Corporation (CIC), CIBI combines credit information with alternative data and scoring solutions to give financial institutions a broader view of potential borrowers.
Since 2024, its data infrastructure has supported 10.1 million people new to credit, helping Filipinos establish credit profiles and become visible within the formal financial system. Alongside this work, CIBI promotes credit awareness, responsible borrowing, and long-term financial health to help people participate sustainably.
Its expanding capabilities also address needs beyond lending. Through initiatives such as CIBI University, the Fraud Intelligence Data Sharing (FIDS) Network, and workforce solutions, the company applies trusted data to challenges involving employment, verification, and fraud prevention.
Collaboration remains central to these efforts. CIBI works with partners across the Philippine regulatory and financial ecosystem, including the CIC, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and major industry associations. These relationships help strengthen information sharing and support the detection of risks that individual institutions may struggle to identify on their own.
The ACES recognition underscores the growing importance of trusted data in building a more inclusive financial system. For CIBI, the next chapter means deepening partnerships and developing solutions that help institutions manage emerging risks while opening more opportunities for Filipinos.
