China warned that it could retaliate unless the United States reversed restrictions on foreign-made advanced robots and connected power inverters.
The Chinese Commerce Ministry said the measures unfairly targeted products and companies from China and interfered with normal trade between businesses in both countries.
The US Federal Communications Commission added foreign-produced advanced robotic devices and connected power inverters to its Covered List on Tuesday, citing security concerns.
The classification covered mobile machines such as humanoid and four-legged robots and effectively prevented new models from securing the authorization required for sale in the United States.
Beijing described the action as discriminatory suppression and said it threatened the lawful commercial interests of Chinese manufacturers.
The ministry also argued that Washington had used security concerns to justify government intervention in ordinary business transactions.
Chinese officials said the restrictions could damage bilateral economic relations and disrupt international industrial and supply chains.
China urged the United States to withdraw the policy, warning that it would take measures to protect its companies and trade interests should Washington maintain the restrictions.
