Long before she married award-winning actor Carlo Aquino, actress Charlie Dizon had already been dreaming about motherhood. For her, the idea of having a child was never tied to the idea of marriage—it was about fulfilling a deep, personal longing to nurture and raise someone she could call her own.
In an intimate conversation on Bianca Gonzalez’s talk show The B Side, Charlie revealed that she used to tell friends—and even Carlo himself—that she wouldn’t mind not getting married as long as she could become a mother. “I’ve always said it—even before Carlo came into the picture—that even if I don’t get married, I still want to have a child. That’s something I’ve always wanted,” she shared.
Charlie admitted she never expected to get married so soon. “It just happened. One moment, he was there, and the next, he was my husband,” she said with a laugh. But the desire to become a mother has always been part of her story. She’s even imagined what kind of parent she might be—whether she’d be strict or soft-hearted, a disciplinarian or a spoiler. “Now that I think about it, I’m definitely the spoiler. Carlo’s the firm one. Maybe because he’s the guy, and I’m softer. When I see someone crying or pleading, I just give in,” she said.
For now, the couple is in no rush to have children. “We believe it will happen in God’s perfect timing,” Charlie shared with calm assurance.
Still, motherhood doesn’t mean stepping away from the spotlight. Charlie said she intends to keep acting even when she eventually becomes a mom. “That’s the balance I want—to be both an actress and a mother. I don’t have kids yet, but when that time comes, I hope I’ll be able to juggle both with love and purpose.”
