Hong Kong – Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, marked two decades of operations in Hong Kong by honoring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), acknowledging their unwavering loyalty and their vital role in the airline’s journey and the country’s development.
To highlight the milestone, Cebu Pacific introduced a special edition of its Values Awards, typically reserved for employees, and presented it for the first time to the public. Five outstanding OFWs were recognized for exemplifying the core values of Integrity, Service, Trust, Courage, and the Best of the Filipino Spirit.
“OFWs have been with Cebu Pacific since day one. They are more than passengers—they are family,” said Candice Iyog, CEB’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. “This is our way of expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and the many ways they help build both our airline and our nation.”
The awards were conferred during the Gawad Parangal Para sa Bagong Bayani, an event organized by the Philippine Alliance, Hong Kong’s largest Filipino community organization. The ceremony, held on June 15, also capped the annual celebration of Migrant Workers’ Day.
Each awardee received a commemorative plaque and a complimentary roundtrip international ticket from Cebu Pacific.
“Recognition like this gives us a sense of pride and belonging,” said Philippine Alliance Chairman Dante Berido. “It reminds us that our work and sacrifices matter—not just economically, but emotionally and socially as well.”
Cebu Pacific reaffirmed its long-term commitment to OFWs through various initiatives, including the upcoming OFW Processing Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) and continued partnerships with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and various NGOs.
The airline also recently launched Juan Flight Closer to Home, a campaign offering aviation engineering jobs with full relocation support for OFWs wishing to return and pursue careers in the Philippines.
