Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said Saturday that, based on his knowledge, no ghost government projects existed in Taguig City and invited the public to inspect the projects themselves.
In a Facebook Live broadcast, Cayetano urged Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, his staff and other interested parties to compare budget records with the actual project sites.
He said reviewing documents and photographs alone was different from visiting the locations, where the completed projects could be seen.
Cayetano maintained that the allegations involving Taguig could be answered and that government projects in the city were in order.
He acknowledged that some technical issues might require clarification but reiterated that he was unaware of any nonexistent projects in the city.
Cayetano and Lacson had traded statements after the latter, then chair of the Senate blue ribbon committee, opened an inquiry into alleged irregularities and ghost projects in Taguig.
The minority leader also said he once admired Lacson but had since become disappointed with him. He expressed hope that Lacson would return to what he described as his previous commitment to seeking the truth.
Cayetano also repeated points raised during his “Kontra-Sona” on July 28, where he called for greater attention to unresolved issues facing the country.
