Caraga Region leads Mindanao in vaccinating children under the ongoing measles-rubella campaign, health authorities reported Tuesday.

Data from the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) showed the region has reached 77 percent of its target, covering 207,171 of the 269,295 children prioritized for immunization.

Northern Mindanao followed at 75 percent, while Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Davao Region recorded 74, 69, and 65 percent, respectively.

DOH-13 credited the high coverage to best practices such as house-to-house information drives and coordination with provincial and municipal health offices, local government units, and community stakeholders.

Vaccination teams were also augmented, progress reports were regularly shared, and meetings were held to monitor accomplishments across the region.

Creative strategies, including fetching children from their homes and offering toys and snacks, reportedly encouraged greater participation.

The measles-rubella vaccination drive, launched on January 19, is scheduled to run until February 13.
