Capital1 is set to make the first selection in the upcoming PVL Rookie Draft on Sunday night at the Novotel in Cubao, aiming to strengthen its roster. The Solar Spikers have struggled in recent seasons, finishing with a 7-24 win-loss record over three conferences. They are eager to tap into a deep rookie pool featuring 57 players.
The standout prospect is Bella Belen, a three-time UAAP Most Valuable Player from National University, who is widely regarded as the top choice after leading the Lady Bulldogs to three championships in four years. Former Capital1 head coach Roger Gorayeb expressed his preference for Belen, stating, “I would pick Belen if I had the choice.” Gorayeb has since been succeeded by Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge De Brito.
Following Capital1, Galeries Tower will select second, with Farm Fresh and Nxled rounding out the top four picks. The first round will continue with ZUS Coffee, Cignal, Choco Mucho, Chery Tiggo, PLDT, Akari, Petro Gazz, and Creamline making their selections in that order.
In the next round, the Chameleons will have the first pick, followed by the Solar Spikers, Foxies, and Highrisers, with the rest of the order remaining the same. Other notable prospects in this year’s draft include AC Miner, Tia Andaya, Alohi Robins-Hardy, and several others.
