The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) said Monday it has begun rolling out new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles to strengthen emergency capabilities at regional airports.
The agency reported that newly acquired units were recently delivered to key gateways, including Laoag International Airport and Puerto Princesa International Airport.
Each vehicle is equipped with high-capacity firefighting systems designed to respond quickly to aviation incidents, including large water tanks, foam agents, and dry chemical suppression tools.
More units are set to be deployed in other airports such as Butuan Airport, Siargao Airport, and Bicol International Airport.
Additional deliveries are also planned for Busuanga Airport, General Santos International Airport, and Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport.
The rollout forms part of the initial phase of the agency’s broader modernization program aimed at upgrading airport safety infrastructure nationwide.
Authorities said the program targets the deployment of dozens of firefighting units, with a portion already lined up for procurement this year to expand coverage across the country’s aviation network.
