The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) handed over two Helio aircraft to the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (Naap) on Tuesday, aiming to boost practical aviation education in the country.

The donation was formalized during a signing ceremony at the Caap Central Office in Pasay City, marking a milestone in the collaboration between the two agencies.

Naap Officer-in-Charge Dr. Maria Sisa Dela Cruz described the aircraft transfer as a long-term investment in public aviation education and the future workforce of Philippine aviation.

Officials said the aircraft will give students hands-on training opportunities essential for developing skills in aviation safety and operational competence.

Caap Director General Retired Lieutenant General Raul Del Rosario said the move highlights the agency’s commitment to preparing the next generation of aviation professionals while fulfilling regulatory and airport management duties.

Del Rosario added that balancing operational responsibilities with student training ensures a steady pipeline of skilled professionals for the aviation sector.

The academy, previously known as the Philippine State College of Aeronautics, was renamed the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines under Republic Act No. 12255.

Under the law, Naap is mandated to advance aviation and aerospace capabilities in both private and government sectors, including the Philippine Air Force, Navy, and Army.
