CEBU CITY – The top police official in Central Visayas conducted inspections of firecracker and pyrotechnic stalls here to ensure compliance with safety protocols and local regulations before the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The inspection focused on proper labeling, secure storage of products and compliance with local laws governing the sale of fireworks.
“We are observing the implementation of safety measures to protect both vendors and customers,” Brig. Gen. Roy Parena, officer-in-charge of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, said.
Parena also oversaw the deployment of police personnel along busy streets where many residents gathered for the festivities, emphasizing officers’ readiness to manage crowds and respond to emergencies.
After inspecting the firecracker stalls, Parena visited public markets and terminals to evaluate security measures for consumers making last-minute purchases for “media noche,” the traditional New Year’s Eve feast.
During the visits, he reviewed the presence of security officers, the functionality of surveillance systems, and crowd control measures.
Parena also engaged market vendors and shoppers to gather feedback on their experiences during the holiday season. (PNA)
