The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has launched a new mobile app aimed at improving public access to financial services and promoting financial literacy.
The app features real-time exchange rates for the Philippine peso against major currencies such as the US dollar and Japanese yen, as well as a chatbot called BOB for filing complaints against financial institutions.
In addition, users can access the latest BSP research publications through the Statistics and Research tabs. The app also includes a Service Locator to help Filipinos find the nearest BSP branches and coin deposit machines.
A fun and educational Trivia Game is included, where users can test their knowledge of economics, the Philippine monetary system, and personal finance.
BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat mentioned that the app has been live since January 7 and already has about 2,600 active users. She highlighted that the app is part of an initiative by BSP Monetary Board Member Rosalia De Leon, who recognized the potential of mobile platforms to make public services more accessible.
Romulo-Puyat emphasized that the launch of the app is just the beginning, with plans for continued improvement and additional features in the future.
