The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has successfully collected over P1.3 billion worth of coins through its Coin Deposit Machines (CoDMs) since their launch.
As of February 15, 2024, the total coin deposits have reached P1.308 billion, equivalent to 326.18 million pieces of coins from 299,457 transactions.
Launched on June 20, 2023, the CoDM project allows users to deposit their legal tender coins and have the amount credited to their GCash or Maya electronic wallets, or converted into shopping vouchers.
The initiative supports BSP’s Coin Recirculation Program, which aims to bring idle coins back into circulation to meet the country’s currency demand.
