Brotzeit, the beloved German beer bar and pub, has made its return to Ortigas with a new location at The Podium, offering a refreshing “beer garden in the sky” experience. After thriving in BGC and Alabang following the end of their lease in Ortigas, the new venue brings the iconic beer garden ambiance back to the area.
Owner Malvin Ang expressed gratitude for the support from The Podium and SM Malls. The beer garden, open until late, features a dedicated express elevator near the ADB Avenue entrance, transporting guests to the 6th floor for a night of merrymaking. With its communal tables and the classic round black chandeliers, the space captures the authentic German biergarten feel. The best seats, according to Ang, are those by the window with a view of the Ortigas Business District.
Beer enthusiasts will appreciate Brotzeit’s selection of Paulaner, Weihenstephan, and Schneiderweis on tap, available in pints or steins. For a fun twist, beer-based cocktails are also available, with beer mixed with fruit soda or even vodka.
The restaurant offers a variety of German breakfast and lunch options, perfect for the nearby office crowd. A favorite is the traditional German breakfast with weisswurst, herbs, and peppercorns, as well as the Valais Rosti – shredded potatoes deep-fried into a pancake, served with bacon, cheese, and egg. Lunch options include the Reuben sandwich on Laugenbrotchen (pretzel-like bread), stuffed with pastrami, Emmenthaler cheese, and apples. For those craving rice, the Reisfleisch Klassisch (pork stew on rice) is a rich option.
Brotzeit regulars swear by the Schweinshaxe, a German-style crispy pata marinated in beer and oven-baked until golden brown. The Signature Platter includes Schweinshaxe, ribs, and a selection of sausages, including Kasekrainer, Nuremberger, Huhnerwurst, Knoublockwurstel, Bauernwurst, and Thuringer, paired with mashed potatoes, pickles, and sauerkraut.
This new Brotzeit is the largest yet, with an expanded al fresco area set to open in June. It is located on the 6th floor of The Podium, Ortigas, and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Brotzeit also has locations at Shangri-la at the Fort and Alabang West Parade.
