Preparing schools for the new academic year now goes beyond repainting classrooms and repairing facilities. In an increasingly digital learning environment, ensuring access to connectivity and digital skills has become just as important.
This year, Globe is helping bridge both needs through its nationwide participation in Brigada Eskwela 2026, combining volunteer-driven school improvement efforts with digital connectivity support for teachers, parents, and students across the country.
The telecommunications company joined the National Capital Region launch of Brigada Eskwela at Kapitbahayan Elementary School in Navotas City, where government leaders, educators, community groups, and private sector partners came together to prepare schools for the opening of classes.
The kickoff, led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Education Secretary Juan Edgardo ‘Sonny’ Angara, highlighted this year’s theme, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” emphasizing the power of collective action in creating better learning environments for Filipino students.
Supporting this vision, Globe provided 200 SIM cards to teachers and parents, helping strengthen communication channels between schools and families while improving access to digital learning tools and educational resources.
At the same time, Globe employees volunteered their time to help repaint classrooms and improve school facilities, contributing to efforts that make campuses more welcoming and conducive to learning.
But Globe’s support extended far beyond Metro Manila.
More than 250 employee volunteers participated in Brigada Eskwela activities across key locations in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, including Mandaue City, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte, Marikina City, and Batangas. The initiative concluded with volunteer activities in Pampanga and Zamboanga del Norte, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting education in communities nationwide.
The effort comes as educators continue to confront one of the country’s most pressing challenges: improving learning outcomes among Filipino students.
According to recent Department of Education data, a significant majority of assessed Grade 11 learners have yet to reach independent reading proficiency. The figures underscore the need for stronger interventions that address both foundational literacy and the digital competencies increasingly required in today’s learning landscape.
For Globe, preparing students for success means helping them navigate both worlds.

As classrooms continue to evolve, Globe’s Brigada Eskwela participation reflects a broader shift in how school readiness is defined. Beyond physical repairs and maintenance, it now includes building digitally empowered communities capable of supporting learners both inside and outside the classroom.
By combining volunteerism, connectivity, and digital education, Globe is helping ensure that schools are not only ready to welcome students back—but are also better prepared for the future of learning.
