The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is bullish on its growth prospects for the rest of 2025, riding on the back of a solid first-half performance driven by robust consumer lending.

The bank posted a 7.8 percent jump in net income, reaching PHP33 billion from January to June, thanks to steady growth in both consumer and corporate loans, as well as healthy net interest income.

At a media briefing on Friday, BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco expressed confidence that the momentum would carry through to year-end.

“We believe all of the favorable conditions are in place for continued growth through the second half of the year,” Limcaoco said.

He acknowledged that easing domestic inflation has prompted interest rate cuts, which could narrow net interest margins (NIMs). Still, BPI expects to hold steady due to how it has managed its lending portfolio and growth strategy.

“With how we’ve structured our book and managed our growth, our NIMs remain well supported,” he said. “We’ve already factored in potential further rate cuts from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas into our outlook, and we’re confident we can sustain our performance.”

Adding to the optimism is BPI’s expansion beyond Philippine shores. The bank is set to open its new office in Singapore, after receiving the green light from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

“We’re currently building the office, and we’re aiming to inaugurate it within the next month or two,” Limcaoco revealed.

With a stable macroeconomic backdrop and strong lending activity, BPI is positioning itself for a strong finish to 2025—both at home and abroad.
