MANILA — The commemoration of Bonifacio Day will remain on Nov. 30 (Saturday), Malacañang said on Wednesday.
“No movement of the holiday,” the Office of the Executive Secretary told Palace reporters, when asked if the observance of Bonifacio Day will be moved to Nov. 29 (Friday).
Nov. 30, 2024 is a regular holiday to mark the celebration of Bonifacio Day, based on Proclamation 368 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in October.
Last year, Bonifacio Day was observed on Nov. 27, the nearest Monday, instead of the original date, Nov. 30, which was a Thursday.
Pursuant to Republic Act 9492 and Proclamation 90 issued in November 2022, Marcos declared Nov. 27, 2023 as non-working holiday while Nov. 30 of the same year was declared a working day.
The holiday declaration was moved last year to allow the public to have a longer weekend that “will help encourage domestic travel and increase tourism expenditures in the country.” (PNA)
