The Bureau of Customs (BOC)–Port of Clark, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), intercepted two shipments containing 19.89 kilograms of ketamine valued at approximately P99.4 million.

The seizure was part of intensified monitoring and enforcement operations against illegal drug smuggling as the holiday season approaches.

According to the BOC, coordination with the PDEA remains crucial in detecting and preventing attempts to smuggle illegal drugs into the country through international shipments.

Ketamine is a controlled substance used medically as an anesthetic but can also be misused as a recreational drug.

Authorities emphasized the importance of strict cargo inspections and surveillance to prevent the entry and distribution of illegal drugs.

The BOC and PDEA continue to strengthen security measures at major ports and airports as part of their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and smuggling.

Further details regarding the origin of the shipments, the identities of the consignees, and possible charges related to the seizure have yet to be disclosed.
