Authorities intercepted an estimated Php 6.8 million worth of suspected illegal drugs found in abandoned inbound parcels at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) during a joint interdiction operation led by the Bureau of Customs–Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) on April 23, 2026.

Officials reported the recovery of about 4,231 grams of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana kush with an estimated value of Php 6.35 million, and 325 tablets suspected to be ecstasy (MDMA) valued at around Php 487,500.

The items were found inside parcels declared as ordinary goods, including food products and consumer items, with shipments traced to Thailand, the United States, and the Netherlands and consigned to recipients in Luzon and Mindanao.

The interdiction was carried out by the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Seized items were turned over to the PDEA Laboratory Service for confirmatory examination and proper disposition, while authorities said cases are being prepared for possible violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

BOC-NAIA said the operation formed part of continued efforts to monitor and inspect inbound mail and cargo shipments.

The bureau added that coordination with partner agencies remains ongoing to support border security measures and prevent the entry of prohibited substances.
