BJMP, BFP conduct surprise inspection at brooke’s point jail

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted a joint “greyhound operation” at the Brooke’s Point District Jail on Friday to ensure the facility remains free of illegal items.

Dubbed “Oplan Linis Piitan,” the surprise inspection is part of BJMP’s ongoing campaign to eliminate contraband, including drugs, firearms, and unauthorized communication devices.

According to Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo, BJMP Mimaropa regional information officer, the operation yielded no prohibited items.

“The absence of contraband affirms our personnel’s vigilance and commitment to maintaining a secure, drug-free facility,” Anglo said in a statement.

Personnel from the Brooke’s Point Municipal Fire Station assisted in the inspection, which involved random checks of cells and common areas.

The Brooke’s Point District Jail currently houses 279 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) — 268 men and 11 women — who are undergoing rehabilitation programs while awaiting case resolutions.

BJMP said similar coordinated greyhound operations are regularly conducted nationwide to ensure the safety of detainees and the integrity of jail facilities.
